Meditation Benefits
Explore the True Self
Laurel B.
New York Times best-selling author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey, is known for his quote, “depending on what they are, our habits will either make us or break us. We become what we repeatedly do.” This is true. The habits that you build ultimately shape the life that you live, so here are 3 healthy habits that one should build in order to live well.
A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there. In life, in order to grow, we must try new things and in order to try new things, we must not be afraid of taking risks. Staying in your comfort zone because you feel fear to step out is exactly why things will always stay the same.
The people who step out of their comfort zones not only tend to be more successful and more financially wealthy, they also tend to be luckier because they find alternative paths that others may not find. They make a habit of trying new things all the time. So next time you are stuck in traffic, find a new route that you have never driven. Try a new flavor at your coffee shop. Try a new activity that your friends recommended but that you never had the time to do. And may I suggest trying something new like meditation which is the ultimate self-improvement habit?
Failure is the greatest teacher of all. Every great inventor, celebrity, and CEO has stories and stories of their failures. Perhaps they lost all their money in a failed venture. They embarrassed themselves in front of millions. They failed in their marriage. The list goes on. But they all learned from their experiences and were able to make better decisions which finally led them to success. In fact, there is no such thing as success without failure. Everyone is trying to avoid failure, but the people who are most successful are running towards it. Billionaire, Mark Cuban, once said, “it doesn’t matter how many times you fail, each time only makes you better, stronger, smarter.” So don’t be afraid to fail. You will learn something from the experience and that knowledge will help you succeed the next time.
FOMO is real. Everyone you know is living their best lives and look at you! You are so behind, right? When people feel like they are “falling behind”, they try to catch up by hustling and doing everything they can to keep up. Eventually, the same thing happens to everyone who goes down this path. They will burn out and collapse. Mental and physical exhaustion take over because our society does not believe in breaks or taking a time out. But this is the essential answer to how to keep up.
We must make a habit of allowing ourselves to stop and take a break. Whether it is taking a walk or meditating, you have to give yourself time to rest every day to avoid burnout.
