Meditation Benefits
Explore the True Self

I was born as a hypersensitive person who easily absorbed the emotions of others and was averse to loud noises. This made it difficult for me to fall asleep at night because my sensitive body acted on “high alert” at all times. Even if I managed to fall asleep, the slightest sound would wake me up again. I knew something was wrong, but it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with a sleep disorder that I knew I needed to change my sleep hygiene. I did not want to take sleep aids because of the side effects, so I decided to try natural methods to cure my insomnia.
The changes that I made in my life have been the key to getting a restful night of sleep every night and I would like to share them with you today. The two essential habits that I built for restful sleep were meditating and practicing yoga. If the body is tired, but the mind is racing, it’s difficult to fall asleep. And if the mind is mentally exhausted, but the body is restless or jittery, it is equally as difficult to fall asleep. Practicing yoga in the morning to balance my body’s hormones and meditating at night to calm my brain waves helped me relax both my mind and body together.
